FOUR SEASONS IN HAVANA is a mini-series produced for TVE and Movistar+ based on various novels by Leonardo Padura (2015 Princess of Asturias of the Letters Award). Co-produced by Peter Nadermann (responsible for great european thrillers like THE BRIDGE or THE KILLING) the series is a caribbean noir which tells the adventures of a decadent detective in one of the world´s most amazing scenarios (Havana). In the pre-production phase we came up with a concept that revolved around the work from the project´s different stages: «darknes has never been so colorful». Warmth, beauty and death in Havana.
First we put together a development dossier with a series of texts and collages that mixed the two universes: Cuba and thriller. Mysterious silhouettes arise from Havana´s quaint corners, and all permeated from a single grain that places us in the charged atmosphere from the streets of Havana.
The director even used the concept as a reference in the film´s aesthetics, which allowed us to exploit it in the creation of the serie´s title sequence. A minute and a half of mystery, sensuality and death, which unravels following the detective´s footsteps. Sprinkled with letters inspired by the imperfect typography used in political billboards and murals.
The mini-serie´s first chapter premiered in Spain under the title VIENTOS DE LA HABANA (WINDS OF THE HAVANA), for which we designed a poster following the same concept: A silhouette of a rouge detective in the middle of a chaotic, dark, contaminated and beautiful Havana.
